The Non-Oscars 2018

The Oscars were last night. As I sit writing this at my desk in London, Twitter is lighting up with photos of semi-inebriated Hollywood bods enjoying the post-ceremony merriment.

The morning after the Academy Awards always produces a tidal wave of lists all chronicling one of two things: who won what and who wore what. Shockingly they are usually pretty similar (and if you have somehow missed out there is a winner’s list at the bottom).

But this is something a bit different, it is my own personal Oscars. Like the official Academy Awards it is for films released in the last year (between March 1, 2017 and March 1, 2018 in this case). However there is one key difference. For a movie to qualify for my Non-Oscars, I have to have seen it. Since I don’t go to the cinema that often and I watch most of my films on flights, it means the list is rather narrower. So here are the films which qualify for the 2018 Non-Oscars

Baby Driver

Logan

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Thor: Ragnarok

Paddington 2

Star Wars The Last Jedi

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Jumanji

Justice League

Black Panther

Fast & Furious 8

Baywatch

Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Salazar’s Revenge

Wonder Woman

Spider-Man Homecoming

Atomic Blonde

So, here we go for the inaugural Non-Oscars, with your host…me.
