An NCTJ qualified journalist, Chris began his career with Northcliffe and Trinity Mirror Group as a reporter, news editor and leisure editor, covering local news and editing the leisure section, including interviewing celebrities such as Miles Jupp, Paul Daniels and Stephen K Amos.

Following that, he worked for 10 years covering travel retail and luxury brands for business magazines DFNI and Frontier. This included extensive writing about the spirits and cigars sectors, including features and trips for the opening of the new the Macallan distillery, an on-site feature with Bruichladdich and a feature interview with Don Hamlet Espinal, Oettinger Davidoff’s vice president and head of global production at the factory in the Dominican Republic.

Today, Chris is a freelance writer across spirits, tobacco and wider lifestyle topics including travel and wines.
